Stefan Rank, Researcher at OFAI since 2004, graduates to Dr. techn. in the Presence of the Federal President of the Republic of Austria ("promotio sub auspiciis praesidentis rei publicae"). This special graduation where also a special ring is given to the new Dr. techn. by the President, is awarded to students who passed all exams with the best possible marks.

Gerhard Widmer is awarded the "Wittgenstein-Preis", the most prestigious scientific award in Austria. The sum of 1.5 Mio Euro for research during the next 5 years comes with this award. Gerhard Widmer is head of OFAI's Intelligent Music Processing and Machine Learning Group and professor at the University of Linz, Austria.
