Interaction Technologies Group
The Interaction Technologies Group (Interact) founded 2008 at the Austrian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (OFAI) researches complex artificial systems that communicate and interact with the human user. The development of such systems is a horizontal activity integrating research and developments from different areas of AI. This is also reflected in our close cooperation with other Groups at OFAI in particular the Language Technology Group and the Intelligent Software Agents and New Media Group, with both of which we have a vivid exchange of researchers.
Our work includes, on a macro level, Embodied Conversational Agents, (Multi-modal) Assistive Systems. On a micro level, this includes research and development of methods and tools for text processing, question answering and conversational systems, sentiment classification, text-based mining for opinions and affective states, multimodal natural language generation (generating communicative behaviour for Embodied Conversational Characters), generation of multimedia presentations (e.g. tour generation for cultural heritage sites), as well as knowledge representation (relational databases, RDF stores, ontology modelling) and the development of representation formats for multimodal behaviours.
