What does cognitively enhanced mean?

The main goal of the RASCALLI project was to develop and explore technologies for artificial agents that realize or are influenced by aspects of human cognition such as long-term and active memory, i.e. those things which are currently present in the mind, remembering everything which is typical for computers, or forgetting over time which is typical for humans, learning, for instance, if you praise or scold your agent for doing something, the agent with its inbuilt disposition to seek for praise, will learn to do the right things to avoid scolding. This is pretty similar to what we humans do. Reasoning is another cognitive aspect of humans. In the project, we have developed components for different aspects of reasoning. This includes mathematical-logical kinds of reasoning typical for computers, and more human-like reasoning which is based on analogy making between situations.

RASCALLI is supported by the European Commission Cognitive Systems Programme (IST-27596-2004).
